Two weeks in the life of Susan Boggon-Smith

Posted on Jul 11, 2011 by Susan Boggon Smith

10th July 2011

Interesting clients in the last two weeks.  One had a fear of birds, a phobia about lifts, three clients for gastric band hypnotherapy, two people with alcohol related problems, and a couple of people with complex childhood and relationship problems.  One person reached a sort of crisis point with a worrying family situation.  He described his emotional pain as being so bad, and yet good  in that it caused a 'trigger', a sudden memory of a forgotten childhood event.  Without any prompting he instantly regressed into a vivid memory which he had subjugated, and completely forgotten.  It was the depth of pain associated with a current situation that triggered this childhood memory.  Once he remembered this traumatic experience he was able to start to experience forgiveness and self healing.  He did not reveal the memory in it's entirety to me (he did not need to), the fact was his memory and experience was heightened and gave way for forgiveness and healing to help him move on with his life, and deal with the current problem more efficiently.   It did not take away the current family problem, but meant his ability to cope was more of an adult response without the 'inner child'  within him 'sabotaging' his behaviour. and exacerbating his pain.  I have spent a lot of time studying this week, or looking after father who is 91 and very poorly now.  But he has a great sense of humour, and it was nice being able to share thoughts with him.   I won 'Table Topics' at Toast Masters last week, and am planning to do speach no 4 in the manual, and an education slot about Stress in two weeks.  Also booked for the Mussel club on the 20th and had some interesting business meetings.
