Webcam therapy service helps thousands of people

The world’s largest online therapy and coaching platform has release site statistics that show how many people are utilising the service since it launched. More than 400 professionals are now registered with the site and actively helping members of the public who need their assistance.

www.Mentaline.com recently launched in the UK, but it was founded in 2009 by Jesper Buch, the millionaire and entrepreneur who brought fast food ordering online with Just-Eat.  The main objective of Mentaline.com is to offer a more immediate solution for people seeking profession help for issues such as depression, with webcam-based sessions a main selling point of the site.

A recent call for therapy waiting times to be reduced in the UK has meant that more people are turning online for help. People use the site to book sessions with psychologists, life coaches and counsellors and Mentaline.com receives approximately 20,000 monthly unique users, with a monthly growth of around 50%.

The professionals on Mentaline.com are all verified through the organisations of which they belong and each set their own rates. Prices for sessions can therefore vary, but they are typically £40-£60 per hour, on average.

Users can also utilise the free pre-sessions that are available through the site; these tend to last for about 5 to 15 minutes and allow the user to try out the service before they pay for a full session with a professional.

Mentaline.com offers a range of options for users seeking help; there are free support forums, in which other users and professionals are active, offering support and advice. The webcam-based sessions work using Skype and allow users to have a face-to-face discussion with a professional without having to meet them in person.

There are also Masterclasses for those not quite ready for a session, offering advice on a range of issues and topics.

Jesper Buch, founder of Mentaline.com, commented on the site’s success so far;

“I am delighted that the site is doing so well. Mentaline.com was an idea I had after noticing a gap in the market for immediate therapy and it’s fantastic to see that we have helped so many people already.

“I think webcam based counselling is something people turn to when they haven’t quite had the courage to visit a professional in person. It’s a shame that so many people are either too embarrassed or too unsure about visiting a counsellor, so the fact that many are willing to do so over the internet is very encouraging.”
