Life in the fast lane:Have you ever considered fasting?

I have tried many approaches to weight management because I’ve always had a problem myself despite being very athletic. But also many of my clients are concerned about healthy weight loss and living energetic lives. I have blogged about the success of detoxing in the past. I also use hypnotic gastric band to help obese clients but I remain open to the many different approaches to weight management.
Notice I try to avoid the word weightloss. My reason for that is that I believe the mind holds a greater control over healthy weight maintenance than many acknowledge.
I believe the ratio between mind, diet and exercise to be 50/30/20 respectively. The low ratio for exercise I base upon my own weight gains despite running several hours a week and visiting the gym regularly. The high ratio for mind is based upon my experience with clients who use hypnosis to gain mind control.
As a hypnotherapist and EFT practitioner I also have to believe that the mind holds the key to success.
My latest trial is to fast one day per week. I allowed myself to put nearly a stone on since I went to live in Barbados for a month, in November. I did it deliberately with the intention of giving fasting a try.
So far two weeks into the new system I have dropped from 87.2 kilos (25.5% body fat) to 84.2 kilos (23.5% body fat) I have deliberately done minimal exercise so as to be able to add that progressively. I have recoreded my food intake for analysis purposes only as i want to compare this form of weight management with my monthly detox records.
I wanted to fast because it crops up in nearly every culture that I have looked at. It has many spiritual connections too and is looked upon favourably by most health care advisors. I decided every Monday or Tuesday for the foreseeable future I will fast from 10pm until 10am on the day following the next day.
After a month I will publish my training diaries on my web page to let anyone who is interested to make your own minds up whether to give it a try.
