My practice is based on the Hakomi Method and my aim is to offer relief from suffering.
If you find yourself stuck in repetitive emotional patterns, reactions and behaviours which defy your attempts at reasoning with or controlling, you may find yourself asking 'Do I really understand myself?', or even 'Do I really know myself?'. If so then it’s a good chance that you need a different approach and some skilled assistance to look deeper at the sources of these patterns. Hakomi is a powerful method of self discovery designed to free you from unnecessary suffering.
Much of our suffering, painful emotions and reactive behaviours, arise from our distorted perceptions. But our perceptions are distorted in ways that we cannot usually perceive as we go about our life, we assume them to be 'the way that things are'. To understand and resolve these painful patterns we need a way to look deeper, at our unconscious beliefs, the ways in which we habitually frame our experience. These implicit beliefs are often false, over-generalised and out of date. They are the root of these persistent painful emotions. These 'core beliefs' were formed in the past, as adaptations to early relationships, situations and past traumas and they can distort our experience of the present.
Using the Hakomi Method I will pay close attention to how you are experiencing the present, and make guesses about the kind of unconscious beliefs that are operating. The work does not require much speculation or interpretation but works through simple experiments. These experiments elicit in you clear experiences, often emotional ones, which then reveal the deeper mental processes that created them. A deeper healing can then unfold as the beliefs systems are modified and released according to the nourishment available in the present. This is a very organic and spontaneous process in which kind attention and empathic attunement inspire a deep letting go and opening to new possibilities.
