Occupational therapist’s focus on enhancing people’s ability to perform activities of daily life, be it physically or mentally.

Occupational Therapist and education

Occupational therapists work with people of all ages in many settings: Social Services, the National Health Service, Education, Work, Charity and Private practice.

Occupational therapist’s focus on enhancing people’s ability to perform activities of daily life, be it physically or mentally. This allows a huge spectrum of treatment from, for instance anxiety management to physical rehabilitation when people are recovering from illness, surgery or accident. OT’s work with people to ensure they can live as independently as possible and learn coping strategies when faced by challenges.

Occupational therapists train to degree standard and thereafter specialise in specific areas of expertise with ongoing training to maintain their level of competency e.g. neurology, psychiatry, paediatrics etc.  All State Registered OT’s are members of the Health Professions Council.
