Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia is an often irrational fear of being someplace where there may not be help available. This can range from large crowds of people to bridges or other places in public. As mentioned, the fears are often irrational, but they seem very real to the people experiencing them. In extreme cases, agoraphobia can lead to people not leaving their homes for long periods of time, avoiding the outside world as much as possible.

As you might imagine, this can have a serious effect on a person's ability to lead a normal, productive life. The good news is that there is treatment available for agoraphobia. In fact, here at Mentaline.com you can find therapists that offer online therapy that can help with this panic disorder. While everyone worries about getting help in some situations at one point or another, people who suffer from agoraphobia are usually unable to leave their homes because of their fears.

Symptoms of Agoraphobia

The major symptom of agoraphobia is extreme anxiety that usually ends with a full blown panic attack. Fear of panic attacks can lead people to spend a lot of time indoors, rarely leaving their home. Irrational fears of being alone or in an enclosed space without a means of escape are other signs that may indicate a problem with agoraphobia.

For others, the disorder may manifest itself as a fear of losing control in public - something else that leads to spending time at home. This can lead to extreme agitation and anger. A person may exhibit some or all of these symptoms, but whatever the symptoms, panic disorder can be a serious mental illness that can have many negative impacts on a person's life if left untreated.

Treatment for Agoraphobia

At Mentaline.com, we understand agoraphobia and decided to partner with therapists and psychologists that are trained to help with Agoraphobia. With psychotherapy online, support and guidance Mentaline.com are available to help with all the issues that come with agoraphobia. Before small problems with panic attacks lead to you not being able to leave your house because of fears, it is important to get help dealing with agoraphobia.

Online therapy is relatively new, but it is one way to get the help you need with agoraphobia while using the power of the Internet to communicate. This combination may be helpful in getting you through the rough patches that may arise when dealing with this disorder. Many find that once they face their fears and understand them more, they’re able to better function in life.
